About RUF and the internship

Reformed University Fellowship is a campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church of American that reaches out to college students at 120 college campuses across the US through a staff of interns and ordained, seminary-trained campus ministers.  Its mission is to reach students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and equip those students to serve Him, not just on their campus, but in all of life.

I became involved in RUF as a freshman at Furman University, and gradually found a really wonderful community of friends who allowed me to be honest about the things I struggled with and who encouraged one another to "towards love and good works" (Heb. 10:24).  Most importantly, though, through large group meetings and small group Bible studies, I learned about the love of Christ for broken sinners like me.  RUF had an impact on me because I learned that I didn't have anything to offer to God for salvation, but that his grace is greater than all my sin, and that "his mercies are new every morning".

Because I gained so much from RUF and because I was loved so well through the ministry, I knew I wanted to continue to be a part of it and to learn and serve students the way I had been served.  While I was a student at Furman, I benefited hugely from the friendship of two girl interns who wanted to spend time with me and to help me know Jesus more, so I'm humbled by the opportunity to do the same for other girls.

I am so privileged to be able to do this internship and to be placed at the RUF @ the University of Alabama, Birmingham! For the next two year, I will serve under the leadership of campus minister Joe Dentici and his wife, Melissa.  The RUF @ UAB is a growing ministry; it's been on campus for just three years, so I'm excited to join them there and to see the community expand.  Each week, we will meet for Large Group to pray, sing, and to be taught the Word of God.  My responsibilities will include leading small group Bible studies, getting to know incoming students, planning events and gatherings, and attending conferences and retreats throughout the year.  I hope that students will come to know Christ through our efforts and that they will know the hope of Gospel. I can't believe that I have this wonderful opportunity to learn, grow, and serve with a ministry that I love so dearly.
